Multiple vehicles, including two semitrucks, were involved in an interstate accident in Ohio. The devastating crash left one person dead.
It appears that the accident happened when the vehicles were nearing traffic that had stopped on the road. The sheriff’s office said that one semi swerved when approaching the backup and collided with another semi. The driver who swerved was 69 years old.
The collision between the two trucks caused a chain-reaction crash with numerous vehicles. One was a Toyota Corolla, which is a small sedan. The 56-year-old man who was driving that car died from his injuries.
In a nearby box truck was a 29-year-old man who had to be taken to a local hospital with injuries, though he did survive. Another 77-year-old man who had been driving an SUV — a Toyota Highlander — also suffered injuries that put him in the hospital.
A week before, another deadly crash happened on the same stretch of I-270, just a few feet away from this accident.
This crash, along with the fact that it’s the second deadly accident in the same place, shows that traffic stoppages can cause serious problems on the interstate. Drivers always need to be ready and slow down long before they reach the backup. This is one reason that they cannot get distracted while driving. Anything that delays their reaction to the backup can cause a wreck.
